1Who We Are

Offshore Academics Private Limited (“Offshore Academics”, “we”, “us”) runs the training institute at offshoreacademics.com, our centre in Mohali, Punjab, and our online live classes. We decide why and how your personal data is used, which makes us the data fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

This policy covers every way we collect personal data: this website and its forms, our ads on Facebook, Instagram and Google, WhatsApp, calls, emails, walk-ins at our centre, and our classes. It sits alongside our Terms and Conditions.

2What We Collect

We collect only what we need for the purposes in section 3. Here is every type of personal data we handle.

We do not ask for biometrics, or for your card or bank account numbers.

3Why We Use It

Every use has a clear purpose and a lawful reason. We will not use your data for anything new without telling you first and, where the law requires it, asking for your consent.

4Your ID and Aadhaar

We ask for identification only from students who attend our Mohali centre. These students use our premises and our internet connection, and if that connection is ever misused, we need to know who was using it.

• Bring any one government photo ID: Aadhaar, PAN card, passport, driving licence or voter ID.
• If you choose Aadhaar, give us a masked Aadhaar, which hides the first 8 digits of your number. You can download one free from the myAadhaar portal. If you hand us a full Aadhaar, we will ask you for a masked one instead.
• We do not use your Aadhaar to authenticate you, we do not store your full Aadhaar number, and we never share it unless the law requires us to.
• We delete your ID copy 180 days after your course ends.

Online-only students do not need to give us any ID.

5Placement and Hiring Partners

Placement support is part of our courses. To put you forward for a role, we share your placement details (your name, contact details, CV, portfolio, skills and course results) with the hiring partner.

• We ask for your consent before we share anything, and we share only what the role needs.
• You can say no, or withdraw later. It will not affect your classes or your certificate.
• Once shared, the hiring partner handles your data under its own privacy policy. We ask partners to use it only for recruitment.
• Feedback a hiring partner gives us about your interview is used only to support your placement.

6Calls, SMS, WhatsApp and Email

When you send an enquiry, we contact you by call, SMS, WhatsApp or email about the course you asked about. That is what the form is for.

With your consent, we also send batch dates, offers and event invites. You can stop these any time:

• Reply STOP on WhatsApp or SMS.
• Click Unsubscribe in any email.
• Email enquiry@offshoreacademics.com and we will remove you within 7 days.

Stopping marketing messages does not stop messages about a course you are enrolled in, such as class timings and fee reminders. We follow the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s rules on commercial calls and messages.

7Cookies and Tracking Tools

Cookies are small files your browser stores. Some are essential for this website to work. Others help us measure visits and advertise, and you can turn those off.

How Your Choice Works

• Accept, or no choice yet: the tools below run while you use our website.
• Reject: the Meta Pixel and Hotjar stop loading, Google’s tools and Microsoft Clarity switch to a mode that sets no cookies, and we delete the tracking cookies this website has already set.
• Visitors in Europe and the UK: none of the tracking tools run until you click Accept.
• You can change your choice any time with the Cookie Settings link at the bottom of every page.

Advertising Partners

Third parties, including Meta and Google, may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to collect or receive information from this website and elsewhere on the internet, and use that information to measure ads and show you targeted ads. You can opt out through Facebook Ad Preferences, Google My Ad Center, aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.

Google explains how it uses this data in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising use first and third-party cookies to understand how people use our website, for site optimisation, security and advertising; see the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Hotjar’s practices are in its privacy policy. Google Tag Manager loads some of these tools and sets no cookies of its own.

8Who We Share It With

We never sell your personal data or give it to anyone for their own marketing. We share it only with the people below, and only what each one needs.

Some of these, such as Google and Meta, also use data under their own privacy policies. To reach people like you, or to avoid showing ads to people who already study with us, we may give Meta or Google a scrambled (hashed) list of email addresses or phone numbers. They use it only to match accounts for our ads. Email us if you want to be left out.

If Offshore Academics is ever merged or sold, your data would move to the new owner under the same protections, and we would tell you first.

9Data Stored Outside India

Some of our providers, including Google, Meta, Microsoft, HubSpot, Hotjar and Automattic, store data on servers outside India. Indian law allows this except to countries the government restricts, and we will stop any transfer the government restricts. We choose providers that protect data to recognised security standards.

10How Long We Keep It

We keep data only as long as the purpose needs, or as long as the law requires. Then we delete it or make it anonymous, unless an open dispute or a legal duty means we have to keep it longer.

11Learners Under 18

• Learners under 18 can enrol only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who signs the enrolment form. We check that the person signing is the learner’s parent or guardian and is an adult.
• We collect only what the course needs, and a parent or guardian can use every right in section 13 on the learner’s behalf.
• We do not knowingly target ads at anyone under 18, or track their behaviour for advertising.
• If you think we have a child’s data without a parent’s consent, email us and we will delete it.

12How We Protect It

• This website uses HTTPS encryption and is protected by a security firewall.
• Payments go through Razorpay, which is certified to the PCI DSS card security standard.
• Only staff who need your data for their work can access it.
• We keep backups so data is not lost.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you without delay, explain what happened and what you can do, and report it to CERT-In and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

13Your Rights

You can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal data we hold about you, how we use it and who we have shared it with.
• Correct, complete or update it.
• Delete it, once we no longer need it for its purpose or the law no longer requires us to keep it.
• Withdraw your consent, as easily as you gave it. This does not undo anything we did before, and if you withdraw consent for data your course depends on, we may not be able to continue the course.
• Stop marketing messages and turn off tracking cookies.
• Record who can use these rights for you if you die or cannot act for yourself (a nominee).

Requests are free. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act, and we reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

If You Are Outside India

We mainly serve learners in India. If you are in the European Union, the UK or another region with its own privacy law, you also have the rights that law gives you, including the right to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Our lawful bases are your consent, our agreement with you, our legal duties, and our legitimate interest in running and improving our courses.

15Changes to This Policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use your data, we tell enrolled students by email or WhatsApp before it takes effect.

16Law and Disputes

This policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Please raise any concern with our Grievance Officer first. Disputes with enrolled students are resolved as set out in our Terms and Conditions. Nothing in this policy limits your right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India or any other authority.
